Hong Kong’s Pegasus Entertainment Holdings Ltd announced on 13 Aug that it has entered a conditional agreement to purchase 40% of Jade Dynasty Group Ltd for HK$60 million (US$7.74 million).

Founded by veteran comic book artist Tony WONG Yuk-long, Jade Dynasty is one of Hong Kong’s biggest publishers of local comic books. It has also become active in animation and online gaming.

Its subsidiary JD Comics publishes Chinese versions of several popular Japanese manga series, including Initial D, Full Metal Alchemist and Tokyo Tribe, properties which have themselves been adapted into animations or films.

Wong created long-running comic book series Oriental Heroes in 1975, which was adapted into Dragon Tiger Gate (2006) by producer Raymond WONG at Mandarin Films Distribution Co Ltd.
