Anatoly Chubais, the head of state-owned nanotechnological company RUSNANO, believes that Nizhny Novgorod region could create engineering companies to carry out innovative projects, VOLGA-Lentaregion reports.
“Nizhny Novgorod region, with our support, could well build one or two engineering companies,” Mr. Chubais said. According to him, Russia is currently launching the federal program to develop engineering companies, and Nizhny Novgorod region should take part in an open contest, to be held by RUSNANO.
“The resources in the region enable you to do five times more than what you do. You have the Venture Fund, Innovative Business-Incubator, well-functioning state support mechanisms. The challenge is to organize resources into the system, tune existing instruments, improve management,” Mr. Chubais explained. He specified that the regional component is one of priorities in RUSNANO. Innovative economy develops outside the capital, in the regions, and innovative breakthrough would not be possible without participation of regional governors, Mr. Chubais added.
