Invest in a new resort on one of the few remaining undeveloped white sandy beaches in the world, not far from the European market
The Business
The Company owns about 63 hectares on Maio Island, one of the ten islands of Cape Verde, which lie in the Atlantic Ocean about 600 kilometers off the coast of West Africa. The property is licensed for development of a beach resort. The resort will consist of 28 villas, 32 duplexes and 262 apartments, together with reception, shops, restaurants, bars, pools, playground, tennis courts, and beach dive and surf clubs.

Situated on a stunning beachfront location, the property is an ideal location for an eco-resort. It is situated along a sea turtle migration route, and on one of the few remaining undeveloped white sandy beaches in the world. It is an important nesting site for loggerhead turtles, and humpback whales feed in the islands’ waters. It is a few hours from Europe, has sun year-round and few natural disaster risks.
Market
Cape Verde enjoys a per capita income that is higher than many continental African nations. It has sought closer economic ties with the United States, the EU and Portugal. Its currency is pegged to the Euro. In 2008, Cape Verde became only the second country after Botswana to be promoted by the United Nations out of the ranks of the 50 least developed countries. In recent years it has seen economic growth averaging six percent and the construction of three international airports.

Tourism is on the rise. Infrastructure investments and trade liberalization have improved the entrepreneurial environment. Cape Verde scores relatively well in financial freedom, investment freedom, and especially property rights, which are strongly protected by the rule of law as compared with other countries in the region. Cape Verde also has good tax incentives for development.
