ClassleChennai-based Classle, an online social network for learning, has raised $500,000 from Chennai Angels, as a first step toward raising up to $5 million as growth capital in about a year.

Classle, started by IIT-Madras alumnus Vaidya Nathan in 2009 with a capital of Rs 1.5 crore, pegs itself as a platform that makes students more employable. Its efforts are centred on free-touse online content designed by experts commissioned by the company as well as that generated by users.

Free online learning platforms are common. Some of them, however, do make money by selling specific products directly to schools or students. Classle hopes to generate revenue by helping companies hire from its pool of candidates.
