Headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, Ruckus Wireless, Inc., has just announced that it has fully acquired Singapore’s location-based startup YFind Technologies. The financial details were not disclosed.
YFind is a startup that deals with indoor positioning and real-time location analytics. Ruckus supplies “advanced wireless systems” such as indoor and outdoor “Smart Wi-Fi” products to mobile carriers and broadband service providers. Presumably, the YFind’s indoor positioning technology will be integrated with Ruckus’ products, but the statement unfortunately didn’t explain in depth how both companies will integrate. We have reached out to Ruckus and will update if we hear back. Y-Find.com is now redirected to Ruckus Wireless’ location technology webpage.
Regardless, it seems like good news for YFind co-founder Melvin Yuan and his crew. Melvin declined to give his thoughts on this acquisition and directed me to Ruckus’s communication team (with a smiley emoticon). We first covered the startup back in July 2011 when YFind first started. The startup then moved on to raise $1.1 million from Walden International and Innosight Ventures before getting acquired by Ruckus Wireless.
