Brazilian banks are intensifying their bets on private equity, amid questions abroad on such type of investment in companies. The close relationship with thousands of companies in Brazil is one of the banks’ trump cards in seeking the best investment opportunities.
With very diverse sizes and structures, Itaú Unibanco, Santander, Bradesco, BTG Pactual and even Caixa Econômica Federal recently entered joined the fray. Narrowing corporate relationships, offering to clients new investment options and seek more profitable sources to allocate its own capital are some of the aims of these banks.
